Monsieur Citynet

early morning on the Planiol
early work for M. Citynet
orange suited, dapper even
who patiently sweeps
with a broom
quietly, no screaming
blower
one man for the ville of St. Paul
it will take him a week
to get it all
swept into little piles
the piles scooped into his bin
with a final brushing
of each street and its gutters
with his nifty machine
City Net. City Clean.

What poetry comes
from his solitude
is given back to all
who pass
and are blessed
by his ready smile.
