It’s not even full April yet
and already we’re looking forward to
the return of the swallows–Les hirondelles
to the valley of the Agly
where they find nourishment
and water along the river’s
tree and swamp-cane clustered
banks.
This painting will keep our hopes up
for a safe rentrée
because these acrobats of the air
do indeed make a dancer’s
“retour à la scène, après une interruption”
a main event on the stage of our year
