Some twist of fate, please, with a side order of hope

Spring almost didn’t get here,
this year has been such a twisted
rope of time sticky with oakum,
residue of our life lived with
assassinations, prevarications,
malfeasances, gerrymanders,
launderings, extortions,
hypocrisies, lies, slanders, and
endless sanctimonious bullshits
of all sorts,
but like Oliver, we live on
and hope for better days
while taking a stroll
on the first real
day of Spring
this so-called
Year.
